On This Day : master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar completed 100 centuries

Team Chabuk-Sports Desk: March 16 is recorded in the history of Indian cricket. In India, cricket is considered as a religion and Sachin Tendulkar is no less than a god. March 16, 2012 is the day when Sachin set an unprecedented record by scoring a hundred at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Mirpur while playing against Bangladesh in an Asia Cup match.

In fact, this was Sachin’s 49th century in ODI cricket and he had already scored 51 centuries in Test cricket. Thus the master-blaster completed a century of centuries. Sachin, who was awarded the Bharat Ratna, is the only batsman in the world to set this record. No one has reached this stage before him.

Sachin had completed his century, but Team India lost the match by five wickets. Tendulkar had scored 114 runs with the help of 12 fours and a six in this match. Apart from Tendulkar, Virat Kohli contributed 66 and Raina 51 runs. In this match, Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim decided to bowl first after winning the toss.

Batting first, India scored 289 runs for the loss of five wickets. In reply, Bangladesh won the match with four balls remaining. Tamim Iqbal was the top scorer for Bangladesh with 70 runs. In international cricket, Sachin Tendulkar has 51 centuries in Test cricket and 49 in ODIs.
