Team Chabuk-Sports Desk: Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has made another achievement in the IPL. Rohit, who is the most successful captain in IPL, set a record in terms of sixes on Saturday. He has now become the Indian player to hit the most sixes in IPL history. He has beaten Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in this case.
Rohit achieved this position by hitting a six off Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. His name has now gone 217 sixes in 198 innings and he has overtaken Dhoni’s 216 sixes.
However, the record of hitting the most sixes in the IPL is still recorded in the name of Caribbean batsman Chris Gayle. Gayle has hit 351 sixes in the tournament so far and there is no one around him. AB De Villiers, ranked second, has 237 sixes in his name.
Rohit also achieved another milestone. He has now become the fourth Indian to score 4000 runs as captain in T20. Virat Kohli (6044) has the most runs in this case.
Talk about Rohit’s innings, even against Sunrisers, he could not play big innings despite a fast start. Rohit smashed 32 off 25 balls. During this, he hit two fours and two sixes. He was dismissed by Vijay Shankar on a slow ball.
