Team Chabuk-Sports Desk: Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore, who started with a win, intends to maintain this rhythm against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League on Wednesday. RCB started its campaign by defeating five-time champions Mumbai Indians. The Sunrisers, captained by David Warner, were beaten by Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match.
After a brilliant performance in the first match, RCB’s batting will be even stronger with the return of talented Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal has recovered from the infection of corona and is now fully fit to play. He contracted the corona infection on March 22 and was on isolation. Kohli and Washington will start a beautiful innings for RCB if Padikkal does not get a game on Wednesday.
RCB could field Mohammad Azharuddin and Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa in the upcoming matches. AB de Villiers and Kohli will be in charge of batting for RCB while Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell would also like to prove his usefulness. In the first match, he looked comfortable and has the support of the team management, including captain Kohli.
Padikkal, a 20-year-old left-handed batsman from Karnataka, had scored the most 473 runs for the team in 15 matches last season. In his first season, he scored five fifties, followed by 218 in six matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and 737 in seven in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In the match against Mumbai, all the bowlers of RCB proved to be economical. harshal patel took five wickets for 27 runs and he would like to repeat this performance. On the other hand, both Sunrisers openers Wriddhiman Saha and Warner failed against KKR.
They will try to get back in rhythm. The Sunrisers could also field Jonny Bairstow to start the innings with Warner. Bairstow scored a half-century in the first match while Manish Pandey contributed 61 off 44 balls.
Kane Williamson is also unlikely to play in this match as coach Trevor Bayliss said it would take time for him to fully fit. Bhuvneshwar Kumar gave a lot of runs against KKR but he is not one of the bowlers who have been in bad form for a long time.
