Team Chabuk-Sports Desk: Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai by six wickets with five balls to spare in a thrilling contest. This is Delhi’s third win of this season and first in Chepauk. With this win, the Delhi team has reached the second place in the points table.
In the match, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. But in the third over, Quinton De kock returned to the pavilion. After this, Rohit Sharma (44) and Suryakumar Yadav (24) together scored fast and formed a half-century partnership. But this partnership broke down as Suryakumar and after that Amit Mishra completely dispersed Mumbai’s middle order with his spin. He sent Rohit and Hardik to the pavilion in the same over and then also Kieron Pollard and Ishan Kishan. At one time Mumbai’s team had lost six wickets for 84 runs but Ishan Kishan (26) and Jayant Yadav (23) put together a vital partnership and took the team’s score to 137.
For Delhi, Amit Mishra was the most successful bowler and took four wickets to his name while Avesh Khan got two wickets.
Chasing the target Delhi also had a poor start and Prithvi Shaw returned to the pavilion in the second over. After this, Shikhar Dhawan (45) and Steve Smith (33) together took over the team and formed a half-century partnership. But Pollard broke the partnership by dismissing Smith. After this, Dhawan formed a small partnership with Lalit Yadav.
At one time Delhi needed 22 runs in 18 balls to win and Pant was also out. But after this, Shimron Hetmyer landed on the bat, scored a quick run and took the team to win the match with five balls to spare. Hetmyer, batting in the last over, scored a crucial 9-ball 14.
