Kolkata started their campaign with a win

Team Chabuk-Sports Desk: Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by ten runs in the IPL match here on Sunday with the help of openers Nitish Rana (80) and Rahul Tripathi (53). Kolkata started their campaign with a win. This is his third consecutive win against Hyderabad. The team was successful in winning the last two seasons as well.

Kolkata made a strong score of 187 for six but despite half-century innings of Bairstow (55) and Manish Pandey (61 not out), Hyderabad were able to score 177 runs for 5 wickets.

Hyderabad started off to chase a big target when the team lost two wickets for 10 runs. Captain Warner (03) and opener Saha (07) had returned to the pavilion by the third over. Johnny Bairstow 55 and Manish Pandey added 92 runs for the third wicket to change the match. Bairstow was dismissed by Cummins in the 13th over. Mohammad Nabi (14) and Vijay Shankar (11) were expected but also disappointed. The final two over’s required 38 runs. Abdul Samad hit two sixes in the 19th over. 16 runs came in this over. The final over required 22 runs but only 11 runs could be scored. KKR’s young fast bowler, Krishna, took two wickets.

Rana gave a fast start

Earlier Kolkata left-handed batsman Nitish Rana played an aggressive innings. He hit nine fours and four sixes in his 56-ball innings. Rahul hit five fours and two sixes in his innings of 29 balls. Barring Rashid (2/24), the other Hyderabad bowlers could not make much of an impact. Neither Bhubaneswar nor T Natarajan could keep a check on KKR opener Rana’s batsman. Rana and Shubman Gill scored 50 runs in the first six over’s of the power play. Hyderabad captain Warner had tried four bowlers.

Important partnership of Rana-Rahul

Rashid Khan’s arrival in the seventh over affected runoff. Rashid got Gill out for 15 and got a breakthrough as well. At the other end, Rana took an aggressive stance, although he got the benefit of DRS on Rashid’s lbw appeal. Rana and Rahul shared a 93-run partnership on the second wicket to lay the foundation for a big score. Rana completed his half-century with a six off Vijay Shankar. The team scored 42 runs in the last five over’s. Dinesh Karthik (22 not out, nine balls) played a useful innings for the team by playing big shots.
