Team Chabuk-Sports Desk: Prithvi Shaw has been in tremendous form since being dropped from India’s Test team. The 21-year-old young opener once again batted aggressively in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi once again took charge of Mumbai. He batted brilliantly in the quarter-final match against Saurashtra on Tuesday and scored an unbeaten innings of 185 off 123 balls. During this, he hit 21 fours and seven sixes. Mumbai’s team easily reached the semi-finals on the basis of Shaw’s captaincy innings.
Prithvi also took many records during his innings. He also broke the old records of former India captain veteran Mahendra Singh Dhoni and current captain Virat Kohli. Shaw has now become the biggest Indian player to chase a goal in List A cricket.
Prior to Shaw, this record was jointly recorded with Dhoni and Virat. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 183 runs chasing goal against Sri Lanka in 2005, while Virat Kohli scored 183 runs while chasing the target against Pakistan in 2012.
Talking about the current form of Shaw, he has scored 589 runs in six matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy so far. During this time he has also scored two centuries and a double century. His strike rate has also been 134.
Talking about the quarter-final match, Saurashtra batting first scored 284 runs against Mumbai at the loss of five wickets. In response, the Mumbai team reached the target in 41.5 overs after losing one wicket. For Mumbai, captain Prithvi (185 *), Yashasvi Jaiswal (75) and Aditya Tare (20 *) scored.
