Samson scored a century in the first match as captain in the IPL. This was his third century of IPL career. He has overtaken Shreyas Iyer (93) to score the most runs as a debut captain. Not only this, Sanju has also become the first and only player of the IPL to score a century in a captaincy match.
In the match played on Monday, Punjab Kings, chasing the target of 222 runs, Sanju scored 119 runs in just 63 balls. However, despite struggling for his team till the last, he could not win it.
Sanju hit 12 fours and seven sixes during his memorable innings. He may not be able to win his team in this match but he was given the man of the match for his innings.
