Team Chabuk-Sports Desk: Taking a lesson from the crushing defeat at the hands of England in the second match, the Indian cricket team will play the third and decisive one-day match in pune.
On the batsmen’s pitch, England eased the difficult target of 337 runs by hitting 20 sixes in the last match. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Krunal Pandya, who are in poor form, made their job easier. Indian captain Virat Kohli would never have missed Ravindra Jadeja as much as he did in the last match.
Changes possible in Indian playing XI
Johnny Bairstow and Ben Stokes scored a lot of runs by giving the desired strokes to the Indian spinners. In bowling, Kuldeep give eight sixes which is more than any Indian bowler. He had gave 84 runs in the second match and 64 in the first. While Krunal gave 72 runs in six over’s at an average of 12.
In this case, leg spinner Yujvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar can be fielded in place of these two. Even though Chahal is not in the best form, Kohli has no choice. Krunal can also get a place in the team on the strength of batting but looking at the poor bowling, it is clear that he is not a long term option.
The batting style has to change
The 336-run score in batting was not bad but a change in batting style is needed. The Indian team has relied on playing fast in the last 15 over’s and this practice was established by former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. At times this bet goes away but world champions England have shown that it is right to attack on a helpful pitch from the start. After this, batsmen like Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya get a chance to play openly. Captain Kohli scored a half-century in both the matches but he is expected to score a century. Kohli, however, said he does not play for the record.
Hardik’s bowling is important
Hardik will be in the role of finisher but he has not bowled much except the recently concluded T20 series. Team management has to consider this. In fast bowling, yorker expert T Natarajan can be fielded along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. By the way Shardul Thakur is in form but giving him rest.
England’s spirits soar
After winning the second ODI in a tremendous way, England’s spirits have increased. His openers are in perfect rhythm and Ben Stokes’ return to form in the last match has been a great relief to the visitors. His bowlers have also performed well in bowling. However, the England team will expect their best from all their players in the last match. There was hardly any change in his team.
