Daniil Medvedev beat Rafael Nadal in the ATP rankings

Team Chabuk-Sports Desk: Russia’s young tennis player Daniil Medvedev made a special achievement to his name. In the ATP tennis rankings released on Monday, he reached the second best position of his career. Medvedev won the tenth title of his career as an open finalist, beating veteran Rafael Nadal in the ATP rankings. 20-time Grand Slam champion Nadal has now slipped to third place.

Medvedev has also become the first player to make it into the top two, in addition to Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray, who have been in the Big Four for more than 15 years. In addition to these four players, the last male tennis player to make it into the top two was Australia’s Leighton Hewitt, who finished second in July 2005 while Federer was at the top.

In fact, top seed Daniil Medvedev clinched the title by defeating doubles expert Pierre Hugues Herbert 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in the final of the Open 13 tournament in France on Sunday. With this, he secured the second position in the ranking.

Nadal was second after Hewitt at 368 weeks, Federer at 203 weeks, Djokovic at 144 weeks and Murray at 41 weeks. Djokovic is currently ranked number one in the 312nd week of his career.
