Team Chabuk-Sports desk: Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said on Wednesday that he is still playing because he wants to play and he does not need to prove anything in front of anyone.
Harbhajan will play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League this year and he wants to enjoy the entire cricket he has left.
Harbhajan told PTI, Many people think, why is he playing? This is their thinking, not mine. I think if I can play now I will play. I no longer need to prove anything in front of anyone. My intention is to show good play and enjoy the game to the fullest on the field. Playing cricket still gives me satisfaction.
Harbhajan made his Test debut in 1998 and now has over 700 international wickets to his name. This off-spinner said, I have set standards for myself and if I don’t meet them I will blame myself and no one else. I would then ask myself if I had made enough effort.
He said, Yes, I am not 20 years old now and I will not practice as I used to. Yes, I am 40 years old and I know I am still fit and will do whatever it takes to succeed at this level. The vaccine has arrived. Apart from this my family asked me to play. My wife said I should play.
