”We are delighted to add rare footage presenting rare visuals of 15 year journey of Pakeezah”: NFAI

Team Chabuk-Entertainment Desk: The National Film Archives of India (NFAI) said on Wednesday that it has obtained rare footage of Meena Kumari starrer ‘Pakeezah’, which also includes scenes from the film’s popular song ‘Inhi Logon Ne’.

NFAI said, ‘They have included 18 minutes of rare footage in the making of Kamal Amrohi’s 16mm film. The footage includes scenes from ‘Pakeezah’s’ long journey of 15 years from its concept to its release. There are.’

NFAI said in a statement, ‘This is a very rare compilation in NFAI’s collection. Initial inspection shows that there are heavy scratches on the film and the colors are also blurred. We’re doing our best to save the content so it can reach the audience.’

Released in 1972, the film stars Meena Kumari, Ashok Kumar, Raj Kumar, Nadira, Veena and DK Sapru in the lead roles. The shooting of the film started in 1956. It is said that it took 16 years from the start of shooting to its release. the visuals of the premiere of this film which took place at the Maratha Temple in Mumbai have also been received. Meena Kumari passed away on March 31, 1972, a few weeks after the release of ‘Pakeezah’
