Myanmar : military detained Aung San Suu Kyi

Myanmar had military rule until a decade ago and this military rule continued for nearly 50 years, so Myanmar’s democracy has not yet taken root. In the parliamentary elections held last November, the ruling NLD was accused of rigging the election. The NLD had a big win in these elections, but it’s victory has been viewed with suspicion ever since.

The first meeting of the newly elected parliament of Myanmar was proposed today. Earlier, the army took the big leaders into custody. The news for India is big because Myanmar is not only a neighboring country, but it has also kept an important place in Indian foreign policy in terms of security and diplomacy.

After increasing tension between the government and the army, the matter of detention has come to light. After this, fears of an army coup created a panic. The army also spoke of rigging in the victory of National League for Democracy (NLD) in the elections held some time ago.

Appeal to people to follow the law

Party spokesman Mayo Nunt has told the news agency Reuters that Suu Kyi, President Vin Mint and other leaders were taken in the morning. “We want to tell our people that they do not respond in a hurry and I want them to act according to the law,” he said, adding that there is a possibility that he has been detained. In the early hours of Monday morning, the capital’s phone lines were also not working.

The military spokesman has refused to comment on this. At the same time, an NLD MP urged to keep the name a secret out of fear that one of the detained people was also Han Hanr of the party’s Central Executive Committee.

Government TV and radio programs stopped airing

At the same time, after being taken into custody of Aung San Suu Kyi, the government MRTV and radio on Monday said that due to technical problem, they are not able to broadcast at present. Myanmar Radio and Television has given this information in a post on its Facebook page.
