Team Chabuk-Sports Desk : International cricket is going to return to India after a year long wait amid Corona virus epidemic. The Indian cricket team will play the first match of the four-Test series against England from today. Earlier, Indian players played a three-match ODI series against Australia in January last year.
Even though the corona virus havoc has reduced in India, but the BCCI is not underestimating the risk of pandemic. The BCCI has decided to conduct the first Test to be held at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai without any spectators on the ground.
The second match will also be played on this ground. However, the BCCI has allowed 50 percent spectators to watch the second match. But the players will have to remain in the bio bubble during the entire series.
India has been invincible in Chennai for 22 years
The record of the Indian team at Chepauk Stadium in Chennai has been very impressive. Team India has not faced defeat at this ground since 1999. In 1999, Pakistan had defeated India by 12 runs for the last time at Chepauk ground.
The England team has lost their last three matches against India played at Chepauk Stadium. The last time the two teams clashed on this ground was in 2016. India had won that match by an innings and 75 runs.
