Team Chabuk-National Desk: The first meeting between the heads of quad countries – India, US, Japan and Australia will be held on Friday. In this virtual meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will discuss enhancing cooperation to make the Indo-Pacific region independent, free and inclusive.
The Quad meeting will provide an opportunity to exchange views on contemporary challenges such as flexible supply chains, emerging and critical technologies, maritime security and climate change.
The meeting with PM Modi will focus on regional and global issues of common interest between US President Joe Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and Australian PM Scott Morrison. Cooperation in combating the corona epidemic and ensuring the availability of safe, uniform and cheap vaccines in the Indo-Pacific region will also be discussed.
The point is to reduce dependence on Chinese products
The meeting will also discuss the intention to reduce dependence on Chinese products. According to a report, China produces 60 per cent of the world’s rare metals and occupies a market that raises supply concerns for the world. The Quad countries talks are aimed at countering this by cooperating in financing new production technologies and development projects.
