Machines engaged in turning the Dhauli Ganga
To remove debris from the tunnel and barrage site, the Dhauli Ganga is now being diverted. The barrage site is engaged to remove two JCBs from gate number one and one JCB debris from the tunnel site. Construction of approach road has also been started to land JCB in the river.
The families of the victims say that on the day Dhauli flooded into the Ganges, many workers were working in the barrage site, which are feared to be buried in the barrage. The barrage is also filled with debris along with tons of debris entering the main tunnel located at the barrage site after the floods in the Rishi Ganga.
There is debris deposited in the barrage for about twenty feet, due to which river water has formed a marsh in the barrage. Here, an effort is being made to divert the river to remove the workers buried under the debris. Work for this has also been started from Saturday.
Approach road is also being constructed to clear the debris of the barrage site. Three JCBs are engaged in this work. District Magistrate Swati S Bhadoria told that machines have been installed to remove debris from the barrage site. Removal of debris will be started by turning the river.
