WHO visited the Institute of Virology in the Chinese city of Wuhan

Team Chabuk-The International Desk : The World Health Organization (WHO) team on Wednesday visited the Institute of Virology in the Chinese city of Wuhan, which remains the center of speculation about the origin of the corona virus. The Wuhan Virology Institute, the research institute on the world’s most dangerous diseases, arrived here to find out whether the corona virus epidemic originated from here?

WHO investigators who arrived in Wuhan say that the data they have been given has been ‘seen by no one before’ and that there is no denying that the corona is a out of a lab.

The WHO team’s visit to the Wuhan Institute of Virology is the main point of its expedition to China to gather data and find out where the virus originated and where it spread.

Dr Peter Daszak, a British zoologist from the WHO team, said, ‘We intend to meet all the key people here and ask them important questions that need to be asked. China has been open with them and is allowing them to find evidence.’

The Communist Party of China is believed to have allowed the WHO to find out how Covid-19 moved from animal to human – so is it possible to find it in the laboratory by going to ground zero.

Dr. Dasjak said that ‘they are sharing data with us which we have not seen before – which no one has seen before. He said that most scientists believe that Covid-19, which has killed more than 2 million people worldwide – originated in bats and can be transported in people through another mammal.

Wuhan Institute of Virology is one of China’s top virus research laboratories. The institute was created in the year 2003 for the collection of genetic information.

China has not only denied the possibility of spreading the Corona virus from Wuhan, but also says that the virus has spread in the country from packets of refrigerated marine products imported from elsewhere or imported from outside. This argument of China has been repeatedly rejected by international scientists and agencies.

The institute’s deputy director Xi Zhengli is a virologist. She was also part of a team that traced the emergence of SARS as an epidemic in China in 2003. She has written articles in several journals, and has dismissed former US President Donald Trump’s administration and US officials theories that the virus was used as a biological weapon or “leaked” from the institution.

The WHO team consists of experts from 10 countries. The team visited hospitals, research institutes and the traditional meat-selling market after spending two weeks in isolation. Many early cases of corona virus are related to this market.

After several months of negotiations, China allowed the investigation team to visit. It may take years to confirm the origin of the virus. It consists of several complex stages such as extensive research, animal sampling, genetic analysis and epidemiological studies. There is also a possibility that a wildlife predator may be the carrier of the epidemic, spreading the infection to traders in Wuhan.

Initial cases of covid-19 were found in Wuhan in late 2019 and after that the government imposed a 76-day strict lockdown in this city with a population of 10 million. There have been more than 89,000 cases of infection in China, of which more than 4,600 people have died.
