Team Chabuk :The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Thursday dismissed the bail plea of comedian Munawar Farooqui. Munawar Farooqui is accused of hurting religious sentiments. The Madhya Pradesh High Court reserved the verdict after hearing on Monday in the case of alleged objectionable remarks about Hindu deities. Today the Madhya Pradesh High Court gave its verdict and dismissed the bail plea and sent him to jail. Judge Rohit Arya of the Indore High Court gave this decision through video conference.
Son of BJP MP Malini Gaur filed complaint
The court rejected the plea that it is the constitutional duty of every citizen to promote brotherhood and goodwill. Comedian Farooqui is alleged to have mocked religious sentiments during an event. In this case, the Indore police arrested Comedian Farooqui and his four colleagues. A complaint was lodged against Farooqui by Eklavya Gaur, son of BJP MP Malini Gaur. He alleged that Farooqui has insulted Hindu religious sentiments.
Vivek was opposing Farooqui
Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Vivek Tankha was appearing in the court on behalf of Farooqui. Advocating on behalf of Farooqui, Tankha raised questions against the comedian for filing an FIR under Section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code.
Bail petition has been rejected earlier
Earlier, Farooqui’s bail plea was rejected by another Madhya Pradesh court on 5 January. After which he reached the Madhya Pradesh High Court for bail on 14 January. Here too the comedian’s petition was dismissed.
