Covid-19 vaccines are being donated, sold to other countries : Delhi High Court

Team Chabuk-National Desk : The Delhi High Court, hearing a petition today, has directed the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech to disclose their manufacturing capacity with the Covishield and covaxin vaccines. Along with this, the court has also strongly commented on the release of Covid’s vaccine.

The court said, Covid-19 vaccines are being donated, sold to other countries. Your people are not being vaccinated. A sense of urgency is expected.

The High Court has also asked the Center about the rationale to keep strict control over the category of individuals for the Covid 19 vaccination at present. Not only this, the Delhi High Court also asked the Delhi government to inspect the medical centers in the court premises and tell if there is a possibility of establishing Covid-19 vaccination centers there.

The central government has approved the vaccination in a phased manner. Under this, in the first phase vaccination of medical personnel and advance front personnel has been done. Now, people over 60 years of age are being vaccinated in the second phase. Apart from this, vaccines are being given to those in the age group of 45 to 60 years, who already have a serious illness.

A bench of justices Vipin Sanghi and Rekha Palli said that both the institutes ‘Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech’ have the capacity to provide more vaccines, but they do not seem to be taking full advantage of this.

The bench said, “We are not fully using it.” We are either donating it to other countries or selling them and not giving vaccines to our people. Therefore, there should be a sense of responsibility and urgency in this matter.

The court asked the Delhi government to inspect the medical facilities available in the court premises and whether Covid-19 vaccination centers could be established in these facilities.

The court was hearing a petition by the Delhi Bar Council, which sought to categorize all those involved in the judicial process, including judges, court personnel and lawyers, as personnel of the Front.
