President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday ordered a nationwide lockdown and said schools should be closed for three weeks to help push back the third wave of covid-19 infection. “If we don’t take concrete steps now, we will lose control of the Corona,” said Emmanuel Macron.
Four-week nationwide lockdown
Emmanuel Macron has announced a four-week nationwide lockdown from Saturday. In a televised message, he said that only essential goods shops would be allowed to open during this time and people would have to work from home instead of offices. At the same time, he said that public meetings will be completely banned during this time. It will also be prohibited to travel more than 10 kilometers away from your homes without proper reason.
Schools will also be closed for three weeks from next week. He said that during Easter Friday, which falls during this time, people will be allowed to go wherever they want during the lockdown. Macron said that cases of corona infection are increasing in the country but it is not difficult to control it now, so people need not be afraid.
According to the Johns Hopkins University dashboard, the total number of infected people in France has reached 46.46 million while 95,502 people have died from the corona virus so far. At present 5,000 people in the country are admitted in ICU due to corona. In recent days, there has been an increase in cases of infection due to the corona virus, a new variant of the UK.
According to the World Health Organization, 29,575 cases of infection were recorded in a single day here on March 31. On March 28, 41,682 cases were registered and on March 29, 37,014 cases were registered.
Things are bad in Germany too
Even in Germany, the situation is getting worse due to corona virus. Preparations have started for another 14-day strict lockdown here. German Health Minister Jens Spahn said a 10 to 14-day lockdown was needed in the country to control the epidemic.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Chief of Staff Hague Brown has also expressed concern over the situation in the country. “We’re going through the most dangerous phase right now.”
The next few weeks will determine if we can control the epidemic, Brown said. If the infection continues to grow, the risk of new strains of the corona will also increase and perhaps this will also affect the effectiveness of the vaccine. If that happens, we will need a new vaccine and we will have to restart the vaccination program.
