Team Chabuk- Entertainment Desk : Assembly elections are due in West Bengal in a few months. Meanwhile, Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar announced a national level film award in the name of filmmaker Satyajit Ray.
Javadekar made this announcement at an event organized by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) in Kolkata. In this program, Union Minister Javadekar interacted with the leading actors and directors of West Bengal.
Senior actress and BJP leader Rupa Ganguly, who was present at the function, said that it is great that an award is being instituted in the name of Satyajit Ray. Its plan has been going on for a long time. However, much information has not yet been received on the ‘Satyajit Ray Award’.
At the same time, director Arindam Sil said that there was a discussion with the Union Minister on how to develop the Bengali film industry. The event was attended by actress Paoli Dam, Abir Chattopadhyay, Rituparna Sengupta, director Gautam Ghosh, classical singer Rashid Khan, singer-union minister Babul Supriyo and other dignitaries.
