Uttar Pradesh does not have a single city in the top ten of 111 cities in the country

However, in the top 50 rankings of cities with a population of more than one million, Lucknow (26), Varanasi (27), Kanpur (28), Ghaziabad (30), Prayagraj (32), Agra (35), Meerut (36), Bareilly (47) is considered livable.

At the same time, Jhansi was ranked 34th, Moradabad 38th, Rae Bareli 40th, Saharanpur 44th, Aligarh 58th and Rampur 59th among cities with less than 10 lakh population. Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs (Independent Charge) Hardeep Singh Puri on Thursday released the final rankings of Ease of Living Index (EOLI), 2020 and Municipality Performance Index (MPI), 2020 from video conferencing.

Last year, 49 of the 111 cities surveyed under the Smart Cities program had a population of more than 1 million, while 62 cities had a population of less than 1 million. Earlier in 2018, cities were ranked.

Estimation based on four indicators

Over 10 lakh population: Chandigarh at 29th

Among the 49 cities with a population of more than 1 million, Bangalore is followed by Pune, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodara, Indore and Greater Mumbai. At the same time, Chandigarh finished 29th, Faridabad 40th, Amritsar 45th. The last place (49) was at Srinagar.

Population below 10 lakhs: Grugram on 8th

Among the 62 livable cities with a population of less than 10 lakh, Shimla is followed by Bhubaneswar, Silvassa, Kakinada, Salem, Vellore, Gandhinagar, Gurugram (8), Davanagiri and Tiruchirapalli. Among other cities, Jammu stood at 27th, Dehradun at 29th, Jalandhar at 32nd and Dharamshala at 37th. Muzaffarpur remained at the lowest rung (62).

Municipality with more than 10 lakh population: best Indore

Indore is the number one city in the country based on the performance index of 51 municipalities with a population of over 10 lakhs. It is followed by Surat, Bhopal, Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune, Ahmadabad, Raipur, Greater Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Vadodara.

Others include Varanasi (13th) Bareilly (14th), Ghaziabad (20), Chandigarh (23), Agra (24), South Delhi (28), Meerut (29), Lucknow (33), Kanpur (36), Prayagraj (37) ), Amritsar (38), Faridabad (40), East Delhi (42), Ludhiana (44), North Delhi (48) and Srinagar (49).

Municipality with less than 10 lakh population: New Delhi at the top

New Delhi Municipal Council tops the 60 urban bodies with a population of less than 10 lakhs. In the top-10, Delhi was followed by Tirupati, Gandhinagar, Karnal (4), Salem, Tirupur, Bilaspur, Udaipur, Jhansi (9th) and Tirunelveli municipality. Others include Saharanpur (22), Shimla (24), Aligarh (29), Moradabad (31), Rae Bareli (38), Jalandhar (39), Rampur (44), Dehradun (47) and Jammu (52). Stayed.
