Team Chabuk-Entertainment Desk: 70s hit actress Shashikala has passed away on April 4. At the age of 88, the actress has breathed her last. He acted in around 100 Bollywood films. At the moment she was away from Bollywood for a long time.
Shashi’s full name is Shashikala Jawalkar. Shashi belonged to a Marathi family. Shashikala’s life is full of ups and downs. She has played negative roles in films as well as heroine. It is said that before becoming an actress, Shashikala worked as a maid in people’s homes under duress and after a lot of struggle, she got a job in films.
In fact, Shashikala’s family was very rich and her father was a big businessman. But Shashikala was fond of dancing, singing and acting. Therefore, Shashikala had done many stage shows in many cities of Solapur district.
At that time Shashikala was only 5 years old. But not knowing what was written in the destiny. There came a time when Shashikala’s father became poor and it became difficult to make a living. Then Shashikala’s father had brought the family to Mumbai.
Shashikala had said in an interview, My father used to send all the earnings to his younger brother. He was studying in London. We were six siblings. The father provided for his brother more than his family.
There came a time when his younger brother i.e. Shashikala’s uncle got a very good job. But then they forgot family. Shashikala had said, my father went bankrupt. Those days were very difficult. We didn’t get food for about 8 days. We were waiting for someone to invite us to his house for lunch.
According to reports, Shashikala tried hard to get a job in Mumbai, but she did not get any. Then in compulsion he started working in people’s homes. Shashikala had once said in an interview, While working as a maid, she met an actress and singer Noor Jehan who liked his face a lot. Noor Jehan told her husband to get Shashikala a job in the film. In this way, Shashikala acted in the film ‘Zeenat’ in 1945 and she got a salary of Rs 25 for this film. After this she did many films continuously and did not even look back.
After success in films, Shashikala married actor KL Saigal’s relative Om Prakash Saigal. Some time went well for both of them. During this time Shashikala also gave birth to two daughters. But later on, there were misunderstandings and fights between the two. Tensions between the two increased so much that one day Shashikala left home-family and daughters and went abroad with a man. This was the biggest mistake of his life.
About this, Shashikala had said in an interview, the person with whom I went abroad tortured me mentally and physically. With great difficulty she saved himself and returned to India. Shortly after returning, Shashikala started working in films again. At the moment she was away from Bollywood for a long time. Here she lived with her younger daughter and son-in-law.
