Team Chabuk-Entertainment Desk: American video giant Company Prime Video and Netflix, which has been pushing all the way to increase its subscriber base in India, has now started focusing on mega-budget home-grown content. On Wednesday, Netflix bought the rights to broadcast director SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’ in Hindi after its theatrical release.
Netflix paid big bucks
It is reported that Netflix has paid a hefty amount for this. SS Rajamouli’s film RRR is the story of two Telugu tribal leaders Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem. The film stars Ram Charan as Sitarama and Junior NTR will be seen in the role of Bhima.
Ajay Devgan and Alia Bhatt will also be seen
Apart from these two legendary stars of the south, two big stars of Hindi cinema Ajay Devgan and Alia Bhatt are also working in this film. Post production work of the film is going on fast and it is set to be released on Dussehra this year.
A few days ago, news came that producer Jayantilal Gada had bought the film’s digital and satellite broadcast rights for around Rs 300 crore. Gada has divided the film’s broadcast rights on OTT into two pieces after its release in theaters.
Netflix has bought its Hindi broadcasting rights by paying a hefty amount. He will also have the rights to show the film in the languages of Portugal, Korea, Turkey and Spain. Apart from Hindi, the film will be available on G5 in other major Indian languages Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
The Zee group has benefited from the first jump in the deal, that now the film will be shown on satellite channels in Hindi on Zee channels. Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam satellite rights for the film have been granted to Star India Network channels. With the completion of shooting of the film and the pace of vaccination campaign in the country, it is expected that theaters will start opening around July, August.
The release date of the film ‘RRR’ has been kept on 13 October and as of now the film is on schedule. Soon after the first wave of Corona infection slowed down in the country, Rajamouli completed the shooting of the film by working warily. He has been releasing the looks of its characters when the opportunity arises. It is believed that the film RRR may get the biggest opening in theaters this year.
